Jay Cooke MN State Park 2021

During this trip P was 6 almost 7, T was 5, and V was 2 almost 3.

This is such a beautiful park and we look forward to going back. We went in June 18-21, 2021 with my sister, her husband, and their daughter who is the same age as V. We had sites 26 and 28.

The sites were next to each other, however, they were a little further apart when we would have liked with the younger kids. It would have been better to get 60 & 28 as there wasn't really a boundary between the two sites. One challenge we had was the kids nap schedules not meshing.

We really enjoyed hiking the West Ridge Trail the first day. We went back to camp for a bit and my kids were ready to get going again, so we went for a hike on the Ogantz Trail. We had started to drive to help our kids fall asleep. My sister called when they got up. We were close to Duluth, so they met us there so we could show her husband and daughter Duluth. Then we headed back for dinner at camp.

The second day we hiked along the River Trail. When we started, it was sprinkling, but it continued to rain throughout. We ended up getting really wet! On our way back, we went into the River Inn Interpretive Center. They had a fire going in there. It was so nice and warm. We stayed in there for about 4 hours drying off, and drying off all of our rain gear. We took turns staying out with our dog, Max. Also the guys went to camp and got our lunch food. We ate by the fire, and V took a nap on my lap.

We went back to camp and debated making dinner, but the kids were running out of dry clothes and we were worried about keeping them warm, so we decided to head to Duluth for dinner.
